Which technical diving course is best?

[DSAT Tec Deep vs BSAC Tech Training]

At DJL Diving Koh Tao, we offer both DSAT Tec Deep and BSAC Tech diver training.

Both tech courses train you to dive with multiple tanks, making deep deco dives to 50 metres using up to 100% oxygen for accelerated decompression.

So what are the differences? How can you decide which tech course is best for you?

On this page we discuss the differences between the two tech courses, so you can make an informed decision.

First, lets take a look at the advantages of the DSAT Tec Deep Course.

[DSAT Tec Deep]

DSAT is PADI's technical diving division.

The DSAT Tec Deep course is designed to follow on from PADI's recreational diving courses.

Pre-requisite knowledge assumptions are based on the PADI curriculum, [so if you come from a PADI background you should have no problem with the content of the DSAT Tec Deep Course].

Since most people do their early training with PADI, the DSAT Tec Deep course is directly targetting a much larger audience.

[Advantages of the BSAC Tech Training curriculum]

So stating the obvious, BSAC Tech courses are aimed at BSAC divers.

That means for PADI trained divers to suceed in the BSAC Tech training system, we first have to fill in some 'holes' in prerequisite knowledge, but that's ok - we're used to dealing with PADI divers!

BSAC Tech training is more demanding, but the benefits of the course justify the extra effort.

For example, rather than focusing purely on the diving, the BSAC tech courses also include wider aspects of deep technical diving. Examples include:

scuba diving Thailand Deploying shot lines

scuba diving Thailand Setting up deco stations & emergency equipment - lines, trapeze etc

scuba diving Thailand Underwater navigational techniques

scuba diving Thailand Breifings for support divers / extended range team.

This means that at the end of the BSAC Tech training, you're better prepared to plan, organise and execute deep technical dives, and are better positioned to reach your deep diving objectives.

So our summary is this.

Both tech diving courses turn you into a solid technical diver in the water.

DSAT Tec Deep is aimed at PADI Divers, so provided you have an aptitude for deep diving you'll have no problem qualifying.

If you do choose the BSAC Tech course, you'll be required to work a little harder, but will learn more and become a more rounded tech diver in wider aspects of deep diving.

You should read through each of the tech course outlines so you can make a decision about which is best for you:
