BSAC Ocean Diver Course with DJL Diving
Take the first step in diving - BSAC Ocean Diver here on tropical Koh Tao, Thailand!
With DJL Diving Resort [a BSAC Centre of Excellence], you'll get to explore the amazing underwater world of tropical coral reefs and spectacular pinnacles, experiencing incredible marine life and having a great time learning to dive.
Here's the Ocean Diver course syllabus [total duration is 4-5 days]:
• 7 Theory lessons and assessment. [scuba equipment function, procedures, dive planning, safety considerations . . . . .]
• 1 nitrox ocean diver workshop; this cover the use of nitrox 32 and 36 on no stop dives, to a maximum depth of 20 metres. [Learning how to extend your bottom time or enhance the safety of you dives by using different gas mixes]
• 5 Sheltered water lessons. [Practicing the skills required to become a safe diver]
• 4 -5 Open water dives - the last two dives will be made using nitrox [Get to explore the Koh Tao dive sites]
At DJL Diving we'll make sure that your BSAC Ocean Diver training is a fantastic experience that you'll never forget.
Our BSAC Ocean diver courses are taught in small groups only - maximum four customers per instructor (often less) This ensures every student gets the attention they deserve and qualifies as a safe, confident diver.
Expect each of your Open Water dives to be around 45 minutes in duration. Unlike learning in the UK, our water is around 30°C so we are still comfortable and enjoying the marine life after 45 minutes! This means at least three hours underwater as part of your Ocean Diver course.
We'll make an effort to visit different dive sites for each of your dives, meaning you get to see more - expect to see many colorful reef fish, blue spotted stingrays, moray eels, turtles and much much more.

Advice
on How to Get to Koh Tao.
If you're travelling
to Koh Tao [from Bangkok] for your PADI Open Water
Course, and aren't
sure of the best way to get here,
follow these simple instructions: From the airport
[or wherever] jump in a meter taxi
and head to Khao San Road. Shouldn't
cost more than a couple of hundred
baht.At Khao San Road,
book a joint coach & high speed ferry
ticket with Lomprayah Catamaran.
There are other services, but this
is the fastest, easiest & best.The coach will leave
from Khao San Road early evening.
[It's comfortable with air-con, DVDs
and seats big enough to get some
sleep]. You travel overnight to Chumphon,
where, early the next morning you'll
transfer to a high speed catamaran.
You'll arrive on
Koh Tao at about 08:45 a.m. - just
drop us an e-mail to let us know
when you're arriving and we'll make
sure there's a taxi waiting to bring
you down to the dive resort. Easy!

I've never tried scuba diving
before. What happens if I don't
like it, or can't complete the
course?
Learning how to
scuba dive is fairly simple, provided
you stay relaxed and think about
what you're doing. In our experience
almost everyone [99.9% of people]
find learning to dive to be a very
exciting and enjoyable experience.
In the rare occasions where people
do encounter problems, our instructors
have the skills and experience
to assist, and guide you through
whatever you're finding difficult.In the few cases
where people aren't able to complete
the BSAC Ocean Diver Course, it's
generally due to external factors
such as getting a cold or sickness
/ crashing a motorbike
etc.
If this does happen,
we won't make you pay the full balance
of the BSAC Ocean Diver diving course.
We'll calculate the percentage of
the course that you've completed
and charge you based on that. We're
confident that you'll have a great
time learning to scuba dive here
on Koh Tao!
